Seven villages make up what is known as Baronia d’Escornalbou, a privileged inland area in Costa Daurada that, in medieval times, was ruled from the castle bearing its name. Have you ever heard about them?
Founded in the 12th century, the castle-monastery of Escornalbou still preserves part of its cloister, offering breathtaking views over the coastline. Make sure you visit the Romanesque church and explore the castle rooms that Eduard Toda transformed into an elegant manor house in the early 20th century. Today, visitors can discover these spaces through guided tours and immersive theatrical experiences led by Quitèria, the castle’s legendary maid.
Surrounded by almost ninety hectares of woodland, the castle stands in a unique geological setting shaped by distinctive red sandstone formations. No fewer than eighteen historic paths converge here, inviting visitors to explore an extraordinary natural landscape.
Following the tranquil course of the Gaià River, the woodland known as L’Albereda de Santes Creus stands out like a green oasis in the heart of the Costa Daurada. These riverside woods have been linked to the monastery since the 12th century. It is a space where the waters give life to one of the largest populations poplar trees in the south of Catalonia. Its shady banks are also home to elm, chestnut, linden and plane trees, as well as fauna that is as varied as it is fascinating.
Today, under the management of the Tarragona Provincial Government, L’Albereda is a haven of peace that can be enjoyed all year round. It is an ideal spot to experience with family, enveloped in silence and nature.
Between the blue horizon of the Mediterranean and the serenity of the mountains, lie the vineyards of DO Penedès, covering over 2,500 hectares of land, some of which seem to embrace the luminous Costa Daurada, in the Baix Penedès region.
This is where white varieties like Xarel·lo, Macabeu, or Malvasia de Sitges are predominantly born, though Garnatxa and Ull de Llebre are also cultivated. These are wines with a Mediterranean soul, full of character and authenticity, that invite you to taste them through unique and unforgettable experiences.
Tarraco, today’s Tarragona, where the Roman heart of Costa Daurada still beats strongly, invites you to take on a journey back in time to discover the splendour of what once was the capital of Roman Hispania, now declared a World Heritage Site.
Nature, history and culture. These three words perfectly define what you can discover, with the whole family, in Vila-seca, la Pineda Platja, a destination located on the seaside in Costa Daurada, packed with adapted services and the Family Tourism Destination certificate.
Spectacularism, excitement, passion, values... The Concurs de Castells, the 'Castells World Championship' that is held every 2 years in the capital of Costa Daurada is all this and much more! The 3 events of the Concurs ─held in Torredembarra and the Tarraco Arena in Tarragona─ draw the attention of both locals and foreigners, who come from different countries so that they don't miss this incredible event due on the first Sunday of October on even years. And the final result simply wows everyone!
